Our story

Welcome! We are Ashley Goff and Lee Weiler. After ten years and many adventures, we’re thrilled to be starting this company together.

Raising Giants was born during our journey to parenthood. It was a long, difficult journey that included fertility treatments. One night, after a particularly painful and invasive procedure, Ashley decided to distract herself as any self-described history nerd would - by searching for a baby onesie featuring one of her favourite obscure historical figures - Hypatia of Alexandria.

Unsurprisingly, she didn’t have any luck. But she did remark to Lee, “Wouldn’t it be cool if there was a company that sold kids’ clothes that was inspired by history?”

Yes. Yes, it would.

We are now the proud parents of two wonderful Tiny Giants - Pearl and Arthur. They are our inspiration and motivation. Raising Giants has become a reflection of our personal values and our experiences as parents. 

What do we want to teach our children about the world and their place in it? 
What lessons can we learn from the past, especially from those who were too often overlooked, ignored or marginalized?
How do we inspire a new generation of scientists, artists, authors, athletes and other leaders?

Those are big questions for a little company, but that feels about right for a company inspired by giants.

We are a family and a company with a mission. At our core, we want to provide fun and fabulous historically-inspired clothing and other goods to empower kids and their parents. Our products are ethically and sustainably made and we donate 4% of our sales (1% for each member of our family) to UNICEF, so we can send even more Tiny Giants to school.
